Government to Utilize Domestic Construction Material PDF Print E-mail

Ministry of Urban Development Affairs and Housing (MUDH) signed a MoU with Afghanistan Chamber of Mine and Industries to use domestic construction material for the first time in Afghanistan.

MUDH will use domestic material for all of its projects based on this MoU, using building codes and standards. Therefore, it will be part of the procurement requirement conditions for the contractors.

“In order to support the use of local materials, based on this MoU, MUDH will consider 25% priority for domestic material when it comes to the price” said Ms. Nelofar Langar, MUDH Spokesperson while talking to the media at GMIC today 05 Aug 17. She said that based on the government decision, construction projects of all the government entities will be implemented by MUDH starting from next fiscal year.

Further, Minister of MUDH traveling to Urozgan, Zabul, Kunduz and Daikundi provinces inaugurated a number of MUDA’s new projects, put foundation stone of some other projects as well as explained MUDH’s plans and programs.

Ms. Langar said that in the current year four construction projects will start in Daikundi, urben development plans are in progress for Urozgan as well as MUDH will complete the construction of the Provincial Professional Educations Institute. A water supply survey will also be completed in the current year in that province.
Also, Carpet Wafers’ Township in 1000 Jerib land for 1994 households, containing 110 big and small size industrial factories will be constructed in Kunduz within the current year.  Similarly Kuduz Master Plan is on-going.
