President Ghani meets with President of Federal Republic of Austria PDF Print E-mail

The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with the president of Federal Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly, Tuesday morning, New York.

The Austrian president was delighted that the two leaders got the opportunity to meet and talk. Topics on peace, regional cooperation, expansion of transit and commerce figured in their meeting.

President Ghani thanked President Bellen for the assistance and cooperation of Austrian government with Afghanistan. Alluding to the vast experiences Austria has in technical education and renewable energy, President Ghani requested the Austrian government to assist Afghanistan in the mentioned areas.

President Ghani added, “Renewable energy is very favorable for environmental protection. Afghanistan has sufficient capacity to produce renewable energy. With the help of the Austrian government cooperation in this regard, we can effectively utilize our capacity.”

President Bellen said that the Austrian government always supports and assists the Afghan government and people. He added that the Austrian government stands ready to assist Afghanistan in the fields of technical education and renewable energy.

He proposed that a joint technical experts team should be formed to devise a practical working plan on enhancing cooperation in technical education and renewable energy.
